Your privacy is important to us. It is Factsogy's policy to respect your privacy and comply with any applicable law and regulation regarding any personal information we may collect about you, including across our website, https://www.factsogy.com, and other sites we own and operate.
Information We Collect
Information we collect includes both information you knowingly and actively provide us when using or participating in any of our services and promotions, and any information automatically sent by your devices in the course of accessing our products and services.
Log Data
When you visit our website, our servers may automatically log the standard data provided by your web browser. This data is considered ‘non-identifying information’, as it does not personally identify you on its own. It may include your computer’s IP address, your browser type and version, the pages you visit, the time and date of your visit, the time spent on each page, and other details.
Cookies and Website Analytics
With your consent, our website uses Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the site,
for example which pages are viewed and how visitors arrive. Google Analytics uses cookies
(named _ga and _ga_*, kept for up to 2 years) and collects data such as
pages visited and approximate location. It does not give us your name or email address.
Your choice. When you first visit, we ask whether you accept analytics cookies. Google Analytics is not loaded at all unless you click Accept. If you click Reject, no analytics cookies are set. We remember your choice in your browser's local storage for 12 months, then ask again. You can change your choice at any time with the “Cookie settings” link at the bottom of every page; withdrawing consent deletes the analytics cookies.

Videos. Story pages show a preview image served by YouTube. The YouTube video
player itself is only loaded when you press play, from youtube-nocookie.com
(YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode). Once you press play, YouTube's own
privacy policy
applies to that video.
Newsletter
If you subscribe to The Factsogy Brief, we collect your email address and use it only to send you the newsletter. The newsletter is run on beehiiv, which stores your email address and records whether emails are opened and links are clicked, so we can see which stories readers find useful. After you sign up, we send a confirmation email; you are only subscribed once you click the link in it.
The signup form on this website is provided by beehiiv and only loads when you scroll to it. Every email has a one-click unsubscribe link. When you unsubscribe, we stop emailing you; you can also ask us to delete your email address completely by writing to the address below. We never sell or share your email address with advertisers.
Factsogy Desktop App and Google User Data
The Factsogy desktop app is an internal tool used by the Factsogy team to publish videos to the Factsogy YouTube channel. It uses YouTube API Services. By using the app you also agree to the YouTube Terms of Service, and Google's handling of your data is covered by the Google Privacy Policy.
Data accessed. When you sign in with Google, the app requests only the
https://www.googleapis.com/auth/youtube.upload permission. With it, Google gives the
app an access token that lets it upload videos to the YouTube channel you authorised. The app
does not access your email, contacts, other videos, comments, subscribers, analytics or any
other Google account data.
How it is used. The token is used only to upload videos, and their title, description, tags and thumbnail, that you choose to publish from the app.
Storage. OAuth tokens are stored only on the computer running the app. They are not sent to or stored on any Factsogy server.
Sharing. Google user data is not sold, not used for advertising, and not shared with or transferred to any third party. No human reads it.
Limited Use. Factsogy's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Revoking access and deletion. You can remove the app's access at any time from your Google Account permissions page. Revoking access invalidates the stored token. You can also delete the token by signing out in the app, or ask us to confirm deletion by emailing the address below.
Use of Information
We may use a combination of identifying and non-identifying information to understand who our visitors are, how they use our services, and how we may improve their experience of our website in future. We do not disclose the specifics of this information publicly, but may share aggregated and anonymized versions of this information, for example, in website and customer usage trend reports.
Security
We take security seriously, and do what we can within commercially acceptable means to protect your personal information from loss or theft, as well as unauthorized access, disclosure, copying, use or modification.
